Jeff Beal's 'Liberation' is one of those great 'lost' fusion albums of the '80s — a largely atmospheric work that not only seamlessly combines an electronic edge with a subtle jazz sensibility but also explores cinematic impressionism with almost Coplandian grace and grandeur. As my cassette copy had practically worn out years ago, I was recently elated to find tracks from it as free MP3 downloads on the Emmy-award winning (TV's 'Monk' theme) composer/trumpeter's site. This is the only place now where you can legally get the out-of-print album. The music page also includes free MP3 files from other deleted Beal recordings. Link
